 United Methodist Church (UMC), 1971 Haverford Ave, Sun City Center. Our meeting location will be in the Life Enrichment Center (LEC) auditorium, behind the church.    Map & Location

12:00 pm – Lunch              1:00 pm – Guest Speaker

 COST: $18.00 includes program & pre-planned lunch. Make check payable to South Bay Genealogical Society. Reservations must be received in our P.O.  – The 10 Most Common Mistakes We Make in Our Family Research  This presentation will talk about the common mistakes we all make during our research journey. How we can expand our research options and sources other than vital, census and probate records for finding our ancestors, which can lead to confusing people and families with the same name and residing in the same locality.

– In the Room Where it Happened: Discovering my 11th Great-Grandfather and how he helped launch Rembrandt’s career

In this presention, April will introduce you to her 11th Great-Grandfather, a fur trader from Amsterdam who was the subject of one of Rembrandt’s earliest works. She will explain the research process and genealogical evidence that led her to discovering her lineage and share captivating tales of this family’s adventures as fur traders and seafarers in 17th century Holland and Russia.

The names and parentage of our female ancestors can sometimes be elusive in comparison to our male ancestors.  This presentation will look at various types of records that might hold clues to female identities, some techniques for finding the answers, and a case study showing how one such mystery was solved

Genealogists can work together using the FamilySearch Family Tree, WikiTree, and Geni. Learn the differences among them and the best practices for each.
